Visualize the Collision of Art and Music with this thrilling concert featuring Mussorgsky’s famed “Pictures at an Exhibition” and Shostakovich’s brilliant Violin Concerto No. 1 with guest soloist Kenneth Naito whose winning performance at the Grand Junction Symphony’s Young Artists Competition left the entire audience breathless. When to Arrive: Doors open one hour before the show; most arrive 40 minutes prior. Concessions are available before the concert and during intermission. Parking: Public lot behind Avalon Theatre at 7th and Colorado, with free street and metered parking on weekends. Dress Code: Wear what you like; dressing up is optional. General Guide for Applause: Clap for the Concertmaster, Conductor, and after each piece. Etiquette: Please silence devices, limit noise, and be patient with post-concert traffic. Love triumphs over all in this comedy of mistaken identity, culminating in a joyful celebration of the lovers’ wedding. Coppélia is an enchanting family ballet, perfect for young and old alike. Featuring thirteen professional company artists, three trainees, and other talented local youth who auditioned for supporting roles, this show runs just under two hours, including a 20-minute intermission. After each performance, opportunities to meet the cast and take photos will be available in the auditorium or lobby.
